1. Purpose and Community Standards

1.1. PECRA is a non-partisan, volunteer-led association committed to promoting transparency, fiscal responsibility, responsible development, and civic engagement. As a participant, you agree to uphold respectful, inclusive, and constructive dialogue in all interactions related to content on this website.

2. Newsletter Subscription

2.1. By subscribing to the website’s newsletter, you consent to receive periodic communications, including updates, event announcements, and advocacy campaigns.

2.2. You may unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link included in each email.

3. Event Participation

3.1. Participation in hosted events is voluntary and subject to the following conditions:

(a) You agree to engage respectfully with other attendees.

(b) The website reserves the right to remove or deny participation to any individual whose conduct is disruptive, abusive, discriminatory, or contrary to the Association’s values or objectives.

(c) Events may be recorded, photographed, or summarized. By attending, you grant PECRA the right to use such materials for public or internal use without compensation.

4. Privacy Policy

4.1. PECRA is committed to protecting your privacy. We collect personal information such as name, email address, and (where applicable) professional background, solely for the purposes of communicating with you about PECRA activities and community matters.

6. Code of Conduct

6.1. All members, subscribers, and participants are expected to adhere to the following code of conduct:

(a) Treat all individuals with respect, regardless of differences in opinion, background, or beliefs.

(b) Refrain from using discriminatory, offensive, or threatening language or behavior.

(c) Engage in constructive, issue-based discussion; personal attacks are not tolerated.Uphold the integrity of discussions by avoiding misinformation, speculation, or unverified claims.Respect confidentiality when required (e.g., internal meetings or draft policy discussions).

6.2. Violation of this Code may result in:

(a) A formal warning

(b) Suspension from PECRA events or communications

(c) Removal from mailing lists or other preexisting status

(d) Further legal or civil action if required (especially for defamation or harassment).

7. Defamation Clause

7.1. All participants agree not to make defamatory, false, misleading, or harmful statements about PECRA, its representatives, members, or third parties through any platform (in-person, email, social media, or public forums).

7.2. PECRA reserves the right to immediately remove individuals engaging in defamation and to pursue legal action for reputational damage or other harm resulting from such conduct.

8. Disclaimer of Liability

8.1. PECRA is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from participation in any event, reliance on newsletter content, or interaction with other members.

8.2. All information provided by PECRA is for informational and advocacy purposes only and does not constitute legal or professional advice.

9. Modification of Terms

9.1. These Terms of Service may be modified at any time. Changes will be announced via the PECRA newsletter or website.

9.2. Continued participation after notice constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Organizational Status Disclaimer

(a) The Prince Edward County Residents Association (PECRA) is an informal, volunteer-led initiative. It is not a registered legal entity, corporation, charity, or non-profit organization under provincial or federal law.

(b) The use of the name “PECRA” is intended solely for communication, coordination, and community engagement purposes.

(c) Participation in PECRA activities does not confer any legal rights, obligations, or entitlements.

(d) All materials shared under the PECRA name reflect the views of contributing individuals and do not represent the official position of any government body or incorporated organization.
