Help Shape the Future of Prince Edward County

The PECRA Advisory Council is the heart of our mission to bring transparency, accountability, and resident-driven priorities to the forefront of municipal affairs. We are seeking thoughtful, engaged citizens from across all wards to serve as local representatives and strategic advisors.

Why Join?

As a member of the Advisory Council, you will:

  • Represent the interests of your ward or community.
  • Help guide PECRA’s advocacy strategy and policy positions.
  • Attend monthly council meetings (in person or virtual).
  • Collaborate with other volunteers to develop solutions and drive civic engagement.
  • Participate in working groups on specific topics (e.g., infrastructure, governance, planning, environment).

This is your opportunity to make a meaningful difference in how our County is governed and how resident voices are heard.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome individuals from all backgrounds and professions. Whether you’re retired, working, or newly settled in the County, your perspective matters. Ideal members will bring:

  • A commitment to fairness, transparency, and community service.
  • A willingness to listen to residents and relay concerns to PECRA.
  • An interest or expertise in areas such as governance, infrastructure, law, planning, healthcare, or environment (not required, but helpful).
  • The ability to dedicate 1–5 hours per month to council activities.
  • See a sample of profiles of Advisory Council members.

Criteria for Suggested Advisory Members

When reaching out or suggesting potential members, please keep these points in mind:

1. Community Roots

Individuals who live in or have strong ties to Prince Edward County.

People who represent a cross-section of our community — rural, urban, business, agriculture, arts, civic engagement.

2. Non-Partisan Commitment

Members should respect County’s independence and avoid using the council to promote a partisan agenda.

Candidates may hold political views but should be able to engage constructively across perspectives.

3. Diversity of Voices

We are seeking balance: age, gender, backgrounds, and experiences.

Representation from underheard voices (youth, small business owners, service workers, environmental advocates, etc.) is valuable.

4. Community-Mindedness

People who want to make PEC stronger, not simply advance personal or professional gain.

Those who are respected in their circles and bring credibility.

5. Constructive Approach

Individuals willing to collaborate respectfully and share ideas without dominating discussions.

Ideally, people who bring practical knowledge of local issues (infrastructure, environment, housing, culture, etc.).
