Public Participation and Civic Commentary
This website respects and supports the right of residents, community organizations, and stakeholders to engage in public debate and to comment on matters of municipal governance and public policy without fear of reprisal. Consistent with the Protection of Public Participation Act, 2015 (Ontario), which added sections 137.1–137.5 to the Courts of Justice Act, this platform may provide space for expression and commentary on matters of public interest. The PPPA recognizes that expression on issues of public importance should be protected unless a proceeding is shown to have substantial merit and outweighs the public interest in protecting such expression. By referencing the PPPA, this website signals its commitment to fostering lawful, transparent, and responsible public participation, while also respecting legal boundaries and procedural fairness.
