Social media presence

To stand out in the 2026 election, your social media presence should be punchy, data-driven, and authentic. Since 95% of a message is retained via video compared to just 10% in text, a 30-second “hook” is your most powerful tool.

Here are two versions of a 30-second script—one focused on Fiscal Accountability and one on Independence.

Option 1: The “Fiscal Auditor” (Focus: $131M Debt)

Visual: Stand in front of a noticeably potholed road or a “Road Closed” sign. Tone: Firm, professional, and urgent.

[0:00-0:05] Hook: “Our County is currently $71 million in debt, and it’s projected to hit $131 million this year. Does it feel like you’re getting your money’s worth?”

[0:05-0:15] The Problem: “Council just raided our reserves to hide a massive tax hike. That’s like using your savings to pay the rent. It’s a short-term fix for a long-term crisis.”

[0:15-0:25] The Solution: “I’m running for Council to bring a ‘Technical Brain’ to Shire Hall. My first 100 days? An independent audit of our $12 million in outside contracts and a hard ‘Debt Ceiling’ to protect your wallet.”

[0:25-0:30] Call to Action: “I’m [Your Name]. Let’s stop the spending and start the fixing. Follow my page to see the full 100-day plan.”

Option 2: The “Independent Voice” (Focus: Conflict of Interest)

Visual: Stand in a recognizable local park or in front of Shire Hall. Tone: Sincere, community-focused, and direct.

[0:00-0:05] Hook: “Prince Edward County needs leaders who represent you—not special interest groups or private advocacy clubs.”

[0:05-0:15] The Problem: “For too long, we’ve seen the lines blurred between lobbyists and lawmakers. We can’t fix a $90 million budget when personal agendas are at the table.”

[0:15-0:25] The Solution: “I’m [Your Name]. I’m running on a promise of total independence. I’ve pledged to resign from all advocacy boards and push for strict new recusal rules in my first 100 days.”

[0:25-0:30] Call to Action: “It’s time for transparency. Join me in bringing accountability back to the County. Click the link to learn more.”

💡 Recording Tips for Your Phone:

  • Landscape Mode: Always film horizontally for a more professional look.
  • The “Eye-Level” Rule: Prop your phone up so the camera is at eye level. Looking down into the camera can feel “preachy,” and looking up can feel “diminished.”
  • Natural Lighting: Face a window or film outside during the “Golden Hour” (shortly after sunrise or before sunset) for the best look.
  • Captions are Key: Many people watch social media videos with the sound off. Use a free app like CapCut or Submagic to add bold text captions over your video.
